Logo Concepts

The challenge this logo gave me was developing an elegant design yet still keeping a youthful everyday look.

I was visiting Miami when I painted this, I think the colors and the rhythm of it has a Miami beach vibe to it.
Not art deco, more playful than that.

Logo, Stationary, and Website Design

The Burton Group is a financial institute. I find finance a bit dry, and I wanted to add some fresh energy to the look and feel of the
company while still keeping a clean and professional appearance. The curves at the bottom of the website and the stationary convey
youth and freshness. The logo is also a curve but even more important is that in the white space of the logo is the sun. At the blue
dots on top of the stationary represent the big blue Austin, Texas sky where these guys are located.

Water Color and Ink

I spent one month in a German hospital, between meals and CNN I painted a set of watercolors.  Below is my favorite.

Sometimes I have to make 10 or 20 logos to get something great, and sometimes I get lucky on the first try.
This is one logo where I got lucky.

The flame on this logo is one that I wish I could use on other projects.  Sometimes I take pieces from websites I’m working on like
icons or textures, but I don’t think I have it in me to rip off my own logo.

Painting

For all of you wondering what I would like dressed up in 18 century garb here you go!  Actually this is based on one of my favorite
Rocco painters named Fragonard.  This guy was just incredible, he would be at a dinner party, feel the need to paint and then go rush
off to his room.  He’d paint a masterpiece in about 45 minutes.  Then head down to the party and continue talking and eating.

Scott Gibbs is incredibly gifted, check out his website (that he should be updating more frequently) He’s located in Dayton, Ohio and if
you ever get a chance to look at his work, you shouldn’t even hesitate, just do it.

Children Book Illustrations

When I was a child I loved reading the Cat in the Hat.  I must have spent countless hours searching for Waldo, I just loved books with
pictures.  So when I was presented with the opportunity to illustrate a children book I jumped right on it.  The things that makes this
book so unique are the ways the illustrations are drawn.  This is an original style and I hope to expand on it someday.
